The Queens of the Charts

It is the time of the year again where the last crop of big music artists launch their albums in a bid to have a slice of the eagerly buying Christmas/ Year-end crowd.

Where songstresses are concerned, the fickle and bitchy music world is their playground as they pout, pose and belt to their loyal subject of fans.

Launching rocking singles, glossy videos and snooping the competition with massive publicity stunts, collabos and other strategic moves all in the name of fame; who ranks higher up the charts and is snitching more of the consumer's money (yes, these days its all about the sex and the money isn't it?) is their modus operandi.

So here is a rather comprehensive list of the Big Mamas of today's music charts.

If she ain't on it, she ain't hot.

Listed, though not in any order or merit, with their most recent efforts:

1) Whitney Houston (I Look to you)*
2) Beyonce (I am Sasha Fierce)*
3) Mariah Carey (Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel)
4) Madonna (Celebration)*
5) Lady Gaga (The Fame Monster)*
6) Britney Spears (Circus & The Singles Collection)*
7) Christina Aguilera (Keeps Getting Better)
8) Rihanna (Rated R)*
9) Ciara(Fantasy Ride)
10) Leona Lewis (Best Kept Secret & Echo)*
11) Shakira (She-Wolf)*
12) Janet Jackson (Number Ones)
13) Alicia Keys (As I am)
14) Norah Jones (The Fall)
15) Jordin Sparks (Battlefield)
16) Fergie ( The End ; with The Black Eyed Peas)
17) Nicole Scherzinger ( Doll Domination ; with The Pussy Cat Dolls)*

(Those with * are particularly splendid this year)

And please, no Miss Miley ok?

And certainly, not Michael Jackson, Elton John or Adam Lambert.

I know I could be lambasted by loyal fans for those Divaaaaasss who didn't make it in. Sorry and ... may not.

Battle of the Divas

It's been 4eva since I posted anything here.

So lets restart with a Bang.^^)

This month is the Battle of the Divas,I tell ya.

Vanessa Williams, the beauty who was the first Black to Win Miss America, finally has new material after all these years of silence and Ugly Betty.

Her 'The Real Thing' got critical acclaim and is doing well.

Louder and bigger (of course) is Whitney Houston .

Whitney launched her much anticipated comeack album , 'I Look To You' to much fan fare 2 weeks ago.

Well, it making a #1 debut on the Album charts on the Billboard Hot 100 and world wide as a matter of fact , proves, she's back !

And the world's accepting.

With big songs like the title track , the very intimate 'I Look to you' , the catchy 'Million Dollar Bill', the touching 'I Didn't Know my Own Stength' amongst others, (with my personal favourite 'Worth It' ) , it's easy to see how Whitney has traded lung power (still loads of it btw) for somthing more urban and connecting.

Brilliant. Surely one of the best albums and Grammy shoo-ins this year.
Madonna, on the other hand , just launched her third Greatest Hits collection, after her title track, the very nice (and me thinks is indeed one of her best songs thus far, up there with 'Hung Up' and 'Music') , 'Celebration'.

A very well-packaged album with posters and double Cds of her biggest hits from her long career (very heavy, yes) .

A much-needed reprieve from the ho hum Hard Candy.

Just like what 'GHV2' had to do with the damage caused by 'American Life', a couple of years back.

Well, this time, I can safely report that 'Celebration' is a much better album than even 'GHV2'. So, indeed, take heart. Maddie learnt her lessons (just).

Well , Beyonce on the other hand, just had her much banging performance at Singapore's F1 Night Race which the whole world was bound to have been watching.

And it also coincides with her launch of The Platinum edition for the recent Sasha album.

What next? Diamond Ed? This girl is manic, I tell ya.

I would have to say , well, Nippy and Maddie's albums are just a stamp to show who's the real deal amoungst a sea of Beyonces, Britneys, Rihannas and GaGas we have today

Well done!

Whitney , especially, she's in control and knows that a good effort is a Precise and concise effort.

The Wait is over.

Happy 4th July !!!

Happy 4 July !!!!!!

No one sings the Star Spangled Banner better than Whitney Houston ...

After all, it is the only version ever to make it up all the way to the Top 5 of the American Billboard Hot 100 charts, and making it the one and only song ever written in the 18th century to chart.

Not to mention, having sold over 4 million copies , it is one of the Top 3 biggest selling singles of all time.

(Just FYI: The Second-Biggest selling single of all time 'I Will Always Love You' was also song by Ms. Houston and first being that most-annoying 'Candle In the Wind' by Queen Elton John)

Befitting achievements as mountainous as her souring vocals in the song. Amazing.

Can't wait for her new come-back album out this year.^^)

An Apple for All

A top Indian court issued a landmark ruling Thursday that decriminalised gay sex between consenting adults by declaring a colonial-era ban on homosexuality unconstitutional.

The decision by the Delhi High Court was hailed by gay activists here as a historic step in their struggle to achieve equal rights in a conservative society that largely regards homosexuality as a taboo illness.

The court ruled that the existing ban on homosexual acts was discriminatory and therefore a violation of individual rights guaranteed by the constitution.

Homosexuality has been illegal in India since 1860 under a statute introduced by British colonial rulers that banned "carnal intercourse against the order of nature." Conviction carried a fine and maximum 10-year jail sentence.

Although prosecutions were rare, gay activists said police used the law to harass and intimidate members of their community.

"We are all very thrilled and happy," said Anjali Gopalan, executive director of the Naz Foundation, a gay advocacy group that had petitioned the court to overturn the statute.

"This is just the beginning. The battle will continue till every member of this community gets all the rights that an ordinary citizen has," Gopalan told reporters.

While the ruling is non-binding outside the Indian capital, it effectively leaves the government with the choice of appealing to the Supreme Court or repealing the law nationwide.

The decision was criticised by religious groups, particularly leaders of India's Muslim and Christian communities, who staunchly opposed the move to legalise gay sex.

"This is absolutely wrong," said Ahmed Bukhari, imam at the Jama Masjid in Delhi, India's largest mosque.

"We will not accept any such law," Bukhari said.

Father Babu Joseph, spokesman for the Catholic Bishops Conference of India, said the court's decision would make no difference to the Church's stand.

"While respecting the judgment of the court, we still hold that homosexuality is not an acceptable behaviour," he said.

In recent years, India's homosexual community has raised its profile, organising gay pride marches in major cities such as New Delhi and Mumbai.

"I feel very proud to be an Indian today," said openly gay fashion designer Wendell Rodericks.

The Indian government has offered mixed messages on the issue, with some ministers speaking out in favour of the petition, only to be contradicted by others in the cabinet.

Law Minister Veerappa Moily declined to offer any immediate comment on Thursday's ruling, telling reporters at parliament that he needed to study the text properly.

Ashok Row Kavi, a prominent gay rights campaigner since the 1970s, told AFP from Bangkok, where he was attending a UN AIDS conference, that the court's decision opened a new era.

"I will return to India as a free gay man... free from extortion, violence and blackmail from the police, free from discrimination and free to access all health services," Kavi said.

The UN AIDS agency had supported the petition, arguing that decriminalising homosexuality would help India combat the spread of HIV/AIDS and encourage those affected by it to come forward and seek treatment and information.

India has an estimated 2.5 million people living with HIV.

Susan Timberlake, head of UNAIDS' human rights and law team, said "We think this will set an important precedence throughout the world."

New York-based Human Rights Watch welcomed the ruling, saying it was overdue.

"This legal remnant of British colonialism has been used to deprive people of their basic rights for too long," said Scott Long, director of the watchdog's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights Programme.

"This long-awaited decision testifies to the reach of democracy and rights in India," Long said.

Bollywood actress and gay rights campaigner Celina Jaitley said the ruling was historic.

"I'm overwhelmed," Jaitley told AFP in Mumbai.

"It's great not to be criminalised for being a human being and what you do in your bedroom," she added.

Supermodel and plastic

Supermodel Karen Mulder has been arrested for making 'threatening' phone calls to a plastic surgeon.

The 39-year-old star was questioned at a Paris police station after calling the medic and reportedly demanding for a previous operation to be reversed.

The suspect is being interviewed.'Karen was arrested at about 10am yesterday (30.06.09) and taken to a station in the fashion district of the French capital city.Another police source has claimed the model had been 'stalking and making repeated violent telephone threats' to the surgeon.

The source added: 'Miss Mulder was accompanied to a police station in Paris after a complaint was made against her.'She is being interviewed by detectives and is expected to be released on bail.'Her phone records are being checked. It is not yet known if any charges will be brought.

'Karen made her name in the 80s and 90s, and was paid £10,000 for a day's work at one point. She gave up modeling in 1998 after saying she could no longer bear to be photographed.

In 2001, she claimed politicians and policemen had used her and others in her profession as sex slaves.

She also falsely alleged she had been raped by Monaco's Prince Albert.

She had depression and received treatment at a psychiatric hospital, then explained her problems were a result of an addiction to drugs when she was a model.

She appeared on the catwalk in 2007 at a Christian Dior show alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Stella Tennant and Helena Christensen.

Fawcett turned off.

She who helped built the careers of today's Charlie's Angels, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore, iconic for her sunshine sex appeal and lustrous blond hair, has passed on.

Farrah Fawcett has died of cancer aged 62.

The 'Charlie's Angels' actress passed away in a Santa Monica hospital today (25.06.09) with her family by her side.

The US star had fought a long and courageous battle against anal cancer but was rushed from her home to intensive care last night and read her last rites this morning.

Her fiance, Ryan O'Neal, and best friend, actress Alana Stewart were said to be with her during her final hours.

Long-term partner Ryan, 68, had been planning to wed Farrah as soon as possible.

In an interview earlier this week He said: 'I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed.

'Farrah is fighting for her life. But we will wed as soon as she can, say yes. Maybe we can just nod her head.

'I promise you, we will. Absolutely.'

Farrah is also survived by 24-year-old Redmond, her son with Ryan. Redmond is currently in jail on a drug rehab programme and was not present at her bedside, according to reports.

She was also married to 'The Six Million Dollar Man' actor Lee Majors from 1973 to 1982.

Farrah was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2006. Although doctors believed it had been successfully treated, the illness returned in May 2007 and had recently spread to her liver.

Her battle with illness was chronicled in the television documentary 'Farrah's Story' earlier this year which received nearly nine million viewers.

In the documentary she said:
'I know that everyone will die eventually, but I do not want to die of this disease. I want to stay alive.'

Finally found its Forte

Handsome. Period.

Kia , a Korean brand we associate with the budget-of-budget motoring. Four wheels and quite reliable. Quite cute. Dirt cheap.

So there was little to complain or fuss about.

So a specially decicated article like this, sure is big news.

And it certainly hints at a certain coming of age. An Arrival at the scene.

The 2009 Kia Cerato Forte, to begin with, even for a massive naysayer like me, actually finding myself falling in love with its, says hell lot.

Obviously, to begin with, the designers at Kia must have had a huge pay rise for they have come up with, in my opinion, one of the most successful shape in years for this category.

It obviously took more than a design hint of the amazing Honda Civic and essense-of -taut , from the Lexus IS 250.

Indeed, this car has lines that are taut and angular and inoffensive to anyone, making it a design loved and raved by all. A strong stance rounds it all up.

Inside, the materials used and the mechanicals are also up several notches.

More attention to a better dash design though.

Still, a long way from what Kia used to be not too long ago.

A winner. That, we can see from the sheer numbers thronging the roads already.

Thumbs Up.

Comeback Queen of the Night

Move over Britney, Whitney Houston is ready to take the title of comeback queen.

And David Foster, the legendary hit-maker for stars ranging from Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion to Madonna and Michael Jackson, is finally talking about his reunion with the superstar.

Foster collaborated with Houston on the blockbuster soundtrack single "I Will Always Love You." He knows fans are wondering if she's ready to resume her hugely successful career after years battling her personal demons.

Q: You and Whitney are finally together again. How is she doing?

David Foster: I was in the studio with her last week. She's in great shape and she looks good. We have this fantastic song that Diane Warren wrote and we went in and recorded it. It went really well. Her work ethic was exactly the way it was when we did the song for The Bodyguard. She worked incredibly hard for two nights and we came up with something really good.

Q: Whitney has been through some tough times. Do you think she has her life and career back on track?

DF: I think she's going to have a great album out within the year. Whitney is a girl that everybody would like to see come back and, in this case, it really would be a comeback. A lot of people say, 'Come back? I never left.' But Whitney did leave and she hasn't recorded in about 10 years, I believe. So this truly would be a comeback.

Songwriter Diane Warren had something to say about the the song she wrote for Houston.

Q: What's the song about, Diane?

Diane Warren: I don't usually write music with someone in mind. But I set out to write this song specifically for Whitney and it's called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." It definitely touches on her life, but I think a lot of people will relate to it because they've gone through hard times too.

Q: How was her performance?

DW: I was praying that Whitney was going to be able to nail it and she exceeded my expectations. She sang the s*** out of that song. Seriously, it was amazing. I'll tell you something, Whitney is back. Let there be no doubt.

$erena

The Biggest earning female athlete in History ~ Serena Williams

Serena Williams was facetiously given the media name of $erena earlier this month after breaking Annika Sorenstam's record for the highest career prize money earned by a female athlete.

This might become $erena William$ if she does well at the Dubai Open starting on Sunday.

The Barclays-sponsored dollar fest pays appearance fees which are widely regarded as the biggest on the WTA Tour. That is in addition to two million dollars prize money which alone is equal to any women's tournament outside of the four Grand Slams.

The younger Williams sister reached 23.5 million pounds prize fund earnings in her 14years of professional tennis after winning her tenth Grand Slam title last month -
and at the age of 27 it would be surprising if Serena did not occasionally look at the best earning opportunities available to her.

The Diva is a Female version of a Hustler

A stunning-looking and strong-sounding Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the stage at a pre-Grammy party honoring her mentor, music mogul Clive Davis.

"I've got it, I've got it!" Houston, looking glamorous in a skintight leopard dress, sang early Sunday morning as she belted a line from one of her classic hits, "I'm Every Woman." But more than a lyric, it summarized to the crowd of A-list superstars and top industry execs that the superstar _ whose drug use and erratic behavior had caused a shocking fall from grace just a few years ago _ was back in top form.

A smiling Houston performed Jennifer Hudson's hit "Spotlight," which earned her one of her four Grammy nominations, and got a standing ovation from the crowd.

But she raised the bar with a pairing with Barry Manilow, injecting one of his signature songs, "Weekend in New England," with a lacking ingredient _ soul.

Afterward, the Oscar-winner joined the audience (and friend Fantasia), stood in the front and danced and sang as Houston performed. Houston started off with "I Will Always Love You," but didn't hit the high, sustaining notes that made the song such a dramatic, stirring hit. Instead, she kept her voice at medium power, deciding to croon rather than soar.

But as she got into hits like "It's Not Right, But It's O.K.," her voice appeared to get stronger _ and louder, and while she never replicated the vocal gymnastics of some of her past work, delivered a mesmerizing performance nonetheless.

The 45-year-old, one of the best-selling artists of all time and among the greatest singers, hasn't made an album since 2002. Then she was was sinking due to drug use and a tumultuous personal life _ a far cry from the princess image she cultivated since her debut in the 1980s.

But the singer is expected to release an album sometime this year, and unlike other reported returns, this comeback seems to be the real deal.

"She was on it, she was happy _ she's back,"
said Foxx. "Everybody else watch out."

Superbly Superb

The All-new Skoda Superb, is really a renewed Audi A6.

And even then, saying it hardly does it justice.

Not merely slapping on a new face and new badges.

The entire platform is stretched by a hell lot. (Think lounge room and still space left for a dance troupe just for entertainment)

Equipment levels and build quality have taken an upswing several notches as well.

What you get is a superb value for money limo costing half the price of the usual suspects.

How good is it?

Barely launched anywhere and already it garnered a string of international awards from 'best looking ' to simply being 'the best' .

The ingenius twin-hindged boot lid is a masterpiece as worthy of the theatrics as a foldable hardtop would.
Only this time, the boot ain't tiny and you could actually fit a cow in.

So good is this car, it recently beat hands-down , get this, a BMW 7 Series and Bentley Continental in an Autocar comparo . As well as the very car it was based on, the Audi A6.

Imagine.

Q ... if ever in the market for a (really) big car, this is it.

Death is Perhaps the only Remise

Beautiful 20-year-old Mariana Bridi da Costa passed away, CNN reports.
- Unfortunately Mari couldn't resist any longer.

She passed away at 3 a.m. today - said Henrique Fontes, director of Miss World Brazil.

The model`s death was also confirmed by Renato Lindgren, a friend of Mariana`s who took care of her blog. He wrote that he was on his way to the hospital with a friend.

- On behalf of all the family, we are grateful for the support and the affection that the entire world has sent to us – Lindgren wrote.

Mariana, who was supposed to have represented Brazil at the Miss World beauty pageant was diagnosed with a urinary infection and the doctors had to amputate both of her hands and feet in order to save her vital organs. A difficult infection caused septicaemia, which clogged her veins and cut off circulation.

Mariana was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Brazilian Doria Silva hospital. After she had her hands and feet amputated on Tuesday, Mariana has to have additional surgery on Wednesday, urgently.

Mariana`s boyfriend Thiago Simoes said that she fell ill in December, but was misdiagnosed with kidney stones. It is only after additional tests that it was determined she was infected with the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.

Q .... life would have been hell if she survived this .

PS: Perhaps death was god's grace to save her most beautiful memories to last a life time and for all eternity for those who love and care for her.

Life is unpredictable even for the most beautiful.

1-20-09

An image sealed in the annals of history.

The new president wore a red tie and white shirt with his new tuxedo made by Hart Schaffner Marx, a unionized factory in Chicago. This was topped with an overcoat adorned with an American flag pin.

Michelle Obama wore a sparkling yellow-gold sheath dress with matching coat by Cuban-born American designer Isabel Toledo. She paired the ensemble with green gloves from J. Crew and green shoes.

The world witnessed in high emotion , the first ever colored American President take his oath with the bible.

Most significant parts of his historical inauguration speech:

" .... know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more."

" To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and respect. To those leaders around the globe who seem to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West- know that your people will judge you on what you can build , not what you destroy."

Beyond well said. Beyond well thought and rehearsed.

Billions worship the ground he walks on.

They look up to him for hope of a better future. One rid of economic uncertainties, free of terrorism and war.

A new world. A better world.

Maybe.

Obama represents hope and change.

Hope he certainly gives. Change, we all hope.

Now that he is the 44th Elected president of the USA, we will all wait in batted breath.

" Remake America, " he says.

"Please remake the World," we say.

KA-ricature

Not showing it's age even after 12 long years.

The old model was an international best seller having sold over 1.4 million units.

So successful and ahead of its time that the car needed little upgrades in its astounding 12 year model run .

Edgy and go-kart like, was a formula that redefined what a life-style super compact ought to be. Stylish city-chic.

In your dreams will you ever have a four-door fudly dudly 'family hatch'. Hell no!

So outstanding it was this masterpiece that, even today, has few peers anywhere in the entire industry.

Being one of the very rare few dedicated style-doyens in what is essentially a mass-market driven segment.

Well, if its a formula that ain't broke, why fix it?

Indeed. The current one could still be shouldering on and still be right up ahead of the pack.

But, anything good is worth getting even better.

So here it is. The ALL -NEW
Ford Ka.

Quite a monumental moment in car history for the original captured the attention of so many growing up.

Mine included.

So arguably , though percievably not as ahead of its competition like its predecessor was, but still the elements that made it so appealling remains, very compact , stylish, edgy and fun.

There. Or be prepared to pay nearly 3 times as much for the Fiat 500 or Mini.

Bring on 6-xy to the 09 !

I intended to spend my countdown in Zirca, the hippest new mega club in town which came in place of the now defunct MOS. (BTW , I did end up there for the rest of the night. And left impressed though hardly in the mood to party.)

The traffic was insane and I ended up spending my final mins and the strike of 12 midnight-2009 in my car queuing up to get into the damn parking.

Seems like a total screw up. At that point I too felt lousy.

But still, I made my little wishes and resolutions for the coming year, alone and in the peaceful confines of my car and away from all the hustle and bustle around me.
I then realised that perhaps, it was a blessing.

I had private time to really reflect on the terrible year it was last year, most notably the passing on of my dog and of course , the pains of a relationship gone sour with no reprieve or resolution. (Still pains like hell, but thats another story said too many times) .

And I wished for things that I won't say here coz it might ended up jinxed?

But what I can say are perhaps the usual. Things I need the most in my life.

Like love, happiness and ambition.

Stains of the past, will forever haunt you.

But I'm looking forward still because that's all there is and all I can hope for.

Happy 2009 everybody.

Q ... Happiness. We all deserve it.

Ending on a Happy Note.

Anyway, I WANT TO BE HAPPY. I WANT TO START POSITIVE.

Thus,

"HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2009!" to all .

Wishing you all the best and may your dreams come true and life filled with fulfilment and bliss.

You get what you deserve. :-)

It's evening soon. And the countdown is soon to be in a couple of hours time.

So I'd be partying at a new club I've never been to before (actually it's the old MOS which closed down this year; oh yes, marking a closure to a chapter of my clubbing life for I've spent many nights there for the past 2 years)

Yes, to get myself in the celebratory mood.

To distract myself.

Hopefully, the new year will bring me satisfaction and happiness. And love.

Happy new everybody, once more.

Tumulous 2008

Turning my back to the past?

As I'm typing this in the wee early hours 0f 31st December 2008, I reminicise the past year.

What a roller coaster ride it was. Mostly downwards. So it was indeed frightening and brings many tears of joy and pain.

The first half of the year marked my final semester before I finally graduated from University.

During this time, not only had I to go through my second round of dreaded work attachment, I spent over 3 days spread over a week going for a editorial photoshoot that ended up with my beloved dog, the late Foxxxy Cleopatra , being part of some of the photos. Not only was some of the photos my most beautiful but memorable as well both for the locations and the people I met.

My dog in it, part of, was an unexpected and magical moment in time because so fast was cancer to have taken her life merely 3 months later.

This, another major milestone in my life. Makes me regret the things I should have or should never have done. Makes me respect life and how fragile it is and how every moment is precious and we should treasure it and the things we do with it.

Then , of course, around this time, middle of the year as well, I finally graduated after 4 long amazing years at University. A life time of studying and it finally cumulated to this day in July. The hat and gown was worn and smiles with friends taken. It seems like yesterday that I took my first step into campus life. Wow.

Moving on, on a full scholarship, my job was waiting for me. My first full time job. A shocker. Like being thrown into the deep end of a pool, you learn and struggle with the rites of passage. Learning to adapt. Learning to survive. Learning the politics and friendships alike. The long unforgiving hours. No rests. No free time. Just relentless work.

Then came my relationship. As of this post, its been 5 months. Beautiful and intense. Emotionally draining. Painful to the point where blame no longer matters.
You only think of the sweet romantic moments. And that's what you'll want to remember.

But it is neither over nor on-going thereby explaining the deep seated emotional pain I'm in.

Then mere days ago, I met another. A potentially deeper love. But anyone will know that a deep love means deeper pain.

All means I am either saved, in deeper emotional turmoil which I am or both. Screwed and messed up.

Ironic too, because so many of my couzies got hitched this year. So too was a string of friends' wedding receptions I attended. And my own relationship is in total chaos.

And not to mention, me almost getting arrested at the local airport because I brought in , let's just say, an ornamental weaponry, and its illegal.
Such brushes with the law. Such drama.

Ministry Of Sound (MOS) Singapore , closed its doors. The club I've spent many nights for the past 3 years with friends has finally shut its doors once and for all. Closing with it, a significant chapter of my clubbing life.

Now, as the hols are almost over and the new year hours away from now, I'm left with more pain and memories of the milesstones in my life, graduation, working adult, lost of loved one, love-lost, love-gain, love pain. With doubts for the year ahead.

Pain behind and brought forward.

Yes, I've met some of my dearest friends who've been there beside me in my deepest hours of need. And I thank the lord for their gift of kindness and ear.

Then, one of my closest is literally at strangle point trying to wrench me out of this ditch and I thank her.

I want happiness. And she's right. It's me who determines my happiness and future.

Yes, to everybody and anybody, tracking my journey this past year, thank you for sharing it even if I'm the private type.

Thank you and Happy New year and may happiness be with you and ME.

Q .... God bless us all.
