Rest in Peace

Introducing the Wellness Skull.
Where in Death, you find a renewed energy for Life.

Wellness is important.

An multi-million dollar industry driven by people who not only appreciate the good life but really do know the benefits behind having a clear mind, body and soul.

In order to find a place to unwind and to step away from all the hassle of modern living, peace has to be found.

Let's think about it. The ultimate Zen is Death itself .

To rest is to sooth the aches and strain. To Rest-in-peace, is Death itself.

So, the genius is in the artist, Atelier van Lieshout, who created the Wellness Skull.

A Spa like non-other. In it lies, not only a sauna for 7-8. It also has a shower and a bath.

When the steam is on, the eye sockets smoke. Brilliant.

A trully exclusive place to unwind and seek the ultimate peace, the solitude of Death itself.

Q... I so need one BTW !

Introducing Pricasso: The Picasso with the Prick

Pablo Picasso, the legendary artist who's famed for his Cubist movement in his art works.

>>

And then there is Australian artist Tim Patch a.k.a Pricasso.

He is, what I would term as, being steadily known for his ... Prick Paint works.

Yes, he paints with his Penis.

It's not for reproduction or sex. It's for art.

He labels himself 'The World's Greatest Penile Artist' - paints his portraits onto smoothed-back canvas, so as to avoid abrasions to his penis.

Duh?

He first discovered that he could paint with his penis when he started getting his penis out at parties, and painting with it.

So no guesses as to what he formally worked as.

He's good.

But I can't imagine his subjects putting on a straight face and trying to keep calm and composed while he
Whips out his weaner to paint a Winner.

Just wondering though, if I had a penchant of painting with my , say, my Butt, would that make me , Buttero ?

( a spoof for the other great artist, Fernando Botero).

:o)

Metallic Brilliance

Check out Koon's Metallic Wonders:

Propose to Her with this US$11.8mil Blue Diamond, and she would actually complain! "Too big darling! Too Big!" Women.:P

The 'Hanging Heart' (aka your Ultimate Valentine's Day Gift) was sold for US$23.6mil, setting a new record for the Most Expensive Art work sold , beating the previous record set by Damien Hirst's diamond skull, 'For the Love God'.
She'll probably appreciate this a lot more too.

This Blue Egg surely contained a Celestial Being of some sorts. Or a really opulent gift to the First Born.

This Blow-up Rabbit toy is Metal so be careful if your junior was to play pillow fight at the pool... Again, opps, it's way too big for that.:)

Quarrelled? Give her surprise Lunch time Bouquet and still not enough? Then another one.

A personal Fav. This giant magenta Balloon Dog, is so cool.
"Daddy I want that Balloon!"

Visionary American artist Jeff Koons (born January 21, 1955), is world famous for his early works of art depicting sex scenes. Then he diversified and moved on to wider forms and constructions of Art.

He makes
blow up-toys look like the real-deal but are in fact made of solid metal.
Ingenious!

And also, as very public displays of sheer opulence, he churns out
polished metal sculptures that have a hue of infinite brilliance of shine and deep color, like non-other.

BTW, his sculptures are Huge..

Critics have called him
'merely as a fashionable purveyor of meaninglessness and banality'

He is perhaps the father of the Rich Artists of today.

Commercial Capitalism meets art. I Hate the idea. But I love his Works.

Rich Artist Poor Art

Art is suppose to be Valuable to the point of being Priceless.

Good art is subjective yet univesally liked. There is no bad art universally hated.

You just can't put a price on great art.

'less are those al cheapo art-furniture gallery (or Ikea), you can either have it or not, at a limiting price. Nothing is too little. Too much is still too much.

The measurables are just immeasurable.

So, I am particularly affected by this current artist that is spinning multi millions in the bank by glamorising the Capitalist approach to his art work.

Granted, past artistic greats died poor and tragic and when alive, were never appreciated, let alone seeing any possibility of using their strokes and brushes to put food on the table.

It took centuries after their demise , that people started appreciating their finer touches.

So, in a way, Briton Damien Hirst reflects how starving artists have come a long way from those pauper-days of yore.

But, I sense greed and opportunistic tendencies in him. A shameful turn how an artist himself aims for monetary gains over artistic transcendence.

Picasso pieces for instance, are known for certain skewed qualities and personality. So too are Botero's 'swollen-subjects'.

Hirst's works thus far are best described as morbid and grotesque.

Check out Saint Sebastian for instance, a suspended calf , tied to a post and pierced with dozens of arrows in a glass tank. George Michael paid a whopping 3.5million pounds for it.

A split shark fetched 10 million pounds. While 3 crucified sheep were sold for 6 million pounds.

Sliced, diced, chopped, cut and splits.... Hirst's contribution to the Art world?

Or will he be more remembered for the money he has made.

For a field not traditionally tainted by the lure of the fortunes, there by turning into an industry, has Hirst become what the residents of SoHo will now aspire to be?

Already photographers these days take pride and strive in not becoming a National Geographic staple but one for the stars such as the likes of David LaChappelle.

Already, Architects, once the profession of hailing the kings and emperors of the past as gods, besides the priests, are today, a victim of their own success in the commercial world of drawing for the extravagant, thereby creating cold and lavish monsters that say more of ambition than heritage and beliefs.

So will artists sell art not because of the love and spread of their craft but to quantify how 'drama' can take the place of more transient qualities such as artistic purpose of expression and personal style and charm?
Does his record 100 million pounds-selling diamond skull piece 'For the Love of God' make him more 'hip hop bling bling jeweller than a bona fide artist now?

I'm not surprised if the skull next appears in P Diddy's , Timbaland or Jay Z's next music videos. Or if they even bought it already as one of its secret buyers!!

The question remains :Is Hirst doing art for art or art for money and fame?

You decide.

It's just different from a multi-million dollar Victoria's Secret Fantasy Angel bra, you know what I'm sayin?... ^^ (This is Tyra wearing a US$11 million diamond-encrusted Fantasy Bra, btw)

Beauty and the Beast.

You know which is which.

Jason Brooks ... Genius

What enthralls the observer when one picks up the Cds of Hed Kandi DJ albums, Virgin dance albums or the Fierce Angel remix albums? Their covers.

More specifically, the models on them.

Cool. Sexy. Chic. Catty. Classy. Come-hither. Modern. High fashion. At once ethereal but fabulous. These are the type of adjectives one will likely hear from fans world-wide.

Introducing Jason Brooks.

In my opinion the new Andy Warhol of this Millenium.

Not since Warhol with his glamorously camp pop-art technicolor touch in interpreting (and redefining) fashion in pop-culture, has there been an illustrator that redefines fashion and beauty in the current.

What Warhol had carved for himself in the history books of pop-fashion since the seventies and eighties; has not seen an apt replacement.

No one with the ability to 'bend (not blend) with the times'.

Indeed, since the late nineties, Brooks, in collaboration with the famous London club Pushca, single-handedly popularised the glamorous-clubbers and models look.

Brooks' no edgy fashion designer like Tom Ford, Michael Kors or Alexander McQueen. He's not a pivotal pop photographer like Karl Lagerfeld, David Lachapelle or Gille Bensimon.

He is not a product designer TRYING to be Warhol, TRYING to redefine pop-fashion. Like Philip Stark for instance.

Jason Brooks, is like Warhol, in that he is a true blue, artist/illustrator bar none.

He doesn't do Van Gogh or Picasso or Botero. All Brooks does is drawing his interpretation of what is TODAY. Not so much from his eyes, but from everybody else's'.

All he does, is add his Midas touch. He's trade mark cool-sexy-chic. He's strokes are clean, simple, un-cluttered. Ordered. Deliberate. He depicts the Classy and High-life; not the look but the sense of it. His depictions are glamorous-always. Yet, as cold and technical his work comes across, it still leaves one 'oh I wish I was there'-turned on.

His attention to facial symmetry is stunning so is his multi-cultural and racially-impartial expressions in the name of 'a globalised-future' depiction . He thus maintains that fine balance between sexy and being in-offensive.

Looking at his work also allows one to crave and envision oneself in his exclusive fictional world of loft-parties.

It's no wonder he has inspired even high-fashion labels like Versace, Valentino, Christian LaCroix among others, to have him there at their Ateliers.

Even his methodology is unique; was one of the first illustrators to adapt to the new medium of computers. This, combined with his love of drawing, helped to pioneer the new medium and bring about a revolution in the world of illustration as well as a rebirth of what had previously been seen by some as a disappearing art form.

So there. A HUGE fan here. One since the very first time I saw his works....everywhere.
~After you've seen his work , who needs Super-Supermodels like Tyra or Gisele, now ? (LOL, Juz Joking)~
