One more for the Club

Introducing the Mini One Clubman

I always loved to lay my hands on a Mini Clubman. ^^

Despite what the general perception of it being a total blaspheme to the old British motoring traditions (but look where it landed almost all of them carmakers), I do see the appeal of the new-fangled Clubman with its unique perspective to the winning formula that is the Mini. With more space, more doors and more tongues wagging (and probably more middle-finger pointing as well) .

But the standard Clubman is too expensive.

And needless to say , the turbo S-version is beyond the GDP of a small third world Nation.

So when I heard recently , that the entry level One version is about to be launched anytime now,
albeit , I 'm sure , an even larger legion of angry protesters, I see it as a possible route to Sensible Mini Clubman ownership.

Bullish Ambition

Introducing : The 2010 Ford Taurus.

This executive car remains one of the biggest selling executive sedans in the world , right up there with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

These 3 titans constantly wrangled for the top spot in the US automobile market; itelf the biggest in the world.

With impressive size, robust technology, great handling, cutting-edge design and good affordability, it was a natural choice for the up-and-coming being a more viabily sensible alternative to the usual European premium brands.

That is until the world got crazy with soft-roader SUVS and MPVs.

Suddenly even a sedan this big ain't big enough. They were seen as frumpy even with a design so sharp.

Still,
Ford is not letting a legend die of any trendy circumstance so next year, we'll see a long overdue replacement to the iconoclast swoopy. Ford Taurus.

Indeed , it was a child hood fantasy of mine to ever take a ride in it. Or own one.

Ford is reviving its aging legends like the Ford Ka as well. Times like these call for desperately creative measures.

When it ain't broke, don't fix it. When you ARE BROKE (as in literally) FIX IT!!!!

Q... Just don't revive the Ford Model T, please.

S-Pace : The Jet set family

When it comes to cars, the laws of physics ring loud and clear.

You want the physical foot print on the road to match King Kongs because you have a similarly sizeable apean family to lug around (or tug along) , you 'll have to sacrifice your thirst for the sleek , fast and furious.

Unless of course, you're earning a movie star's pay cheque (like the real King Kong) . There's always the Audi Q7, Mercedes R-Class, Land Rover Discovery, Lexus LX et al to choose from.

Where sheer brute force of their mega engines compensate their even bigger bodies at the expense of Gia.

The Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Starex can lug around half a 1st World country as well but they too suffer from fast-food obesity all the same.

But for the rest of us mere mortals who earn only enough to feed our huge families (procreation and longevity aren't cheap), and still stubbornly want the compromise between space and pace, thank bullsh*t that 3 manufacturers have been listening to their Customer Service department (they mostly just pay people to sit there and nod).

The Subaru Exiga GT: Subaru's legendary symmetrical AWD system matched to its even more iconic turbo-charged engine for an astoundingly blistering performance that'll shame many a sports car whether on the straights or around the bends. The fastest and most road-capable MPV in the world. Amazing.

The Honda Odyssey : One the world's biggest selling premium MPVs because it's really a sports car masquerading as a people mover. Low slung and stealthy matched to Honda's legendary performance. Trully a Manga-hero translated to four wheels. Bullishly Fierce.

The Ford S-Max : European Car of the Year 2008, for a reason. Dynamic and sporty. Swoon-some.

With any of these three, the space and luxury afforded by their upper-mid market positioning is a given.

Their pace on the road , however, is a huge bonus.

Q ... Proving that space and pace can be done with less.

Valet on Water

When you're filthy rich and you love your cars too much that you want to bring that element of adrenalin rush and poseur-chic onto your other indulgences such as water sports, the following is what you could certainly get with loads (Hell loads! At about the wrong side of 300k pounds) of cash paid to a passionate and visionary designer like Swedish Bo Zolland and a committed coach builder with unlimited resources to please.

Yes, no doubt many are fans of the pseudo Supercar, Audi R8, with its muscular stance and bold avant garde touches; it's almost amazing how a cold German could match the sensuality of the Italian stallions and bulls.

Translate this amazing car onto the water, losing none of the speed or any of its stylistic touches, this is what Bo envisioned and has promised to deliver to those who want (All of us?) and those who can (sadly, not most of us) .

This is an eight metre catamaran (a speed demon of boat with a split bottom) made of carbon fibre and Kevlar.

The attention to detail is astounding (when you pay this much, it better be.) Almost as though , an actual R8 was stripped of its wheels and dropped into the sea. Check out the rear exhaust pipes, the rear vents, side vents, fuel cap et al.

And let's not forget the gull wing doors which even the actual car doesn't have.

Nothing short of wow.

And it's not just a fancy mod job. This is indeed a monster that behaves like one.

Three optional monstrosities serve as the heart of this beauty. Which can be seen from a clear cover at the back (ala a modern supercar) .

A V10 Biodiesel producing 550bhp, an Ilmor V10 with 710 bhp or twin-Volvo engines producing 460bhp.

Any one of these will push the skin of your face to the back of your cranium.

And sets you on a trip from Clarkson to Calais at a snap of a finger.
(Is 5 minutes impressive enough for you? Take a piss and I'd be in Paris even before you zip.)

Amazing.

Just arrive in high style, a Bond suit or a Bat suit up to you.

Just make sure you get that botox done prior.

KA-ricature

Not showing it's age even after 12 long years.

The old model was an international best seller having sold over 1.4 million units.

So successful and ahead of its time that the car needed little upgrades in its astounding 12 year model run .

Edgy and go-kart like, was a formula that redefined what a life-style super compact ought to be. Stylish city-chic.

In your dreams will you ever have a four-door fudly dudly 'family hatch'. Hell no!

So outstanding it was this masterpiece that, even today, has few peers anywhere in the entire industry.

Being one of the very rare few dedicated style-doyens in what is essentially a mass-market driven segment.

Well, if its a formula that ain't broke, why fix it?

Indeed. The current one could still be shouldering on and still be right up ahead of the pack.

But, anything good is worth getting even better.

So here it is. The ALL -NEW
Ford Ka.

Quite a monumental moment in car history for the original captured the attention of so many growing up.

Mine included.

So arguably , though percievably not as ahead of its competition like its predecessor was, but still the elements that made it so appealling remains, very compact , stylish, edgy and fun.

There. Or be prepared to pay nearly 3 times as much for the Fiat 500 or Mini.

Par!s in P!nk

Merry Christmas, Paris!

Your customised Pink Bentley has arrived! ^^

The hotel heiress recently received delivery of the car - a Christmas present to herself worth an estimated $200,000 - fulfilling a childhood fantasy of owning a vehicle like children's toy doll Barbie.

The 27-year-old socialite is planning to decorate the interior of the car in her favourite colour to match its exterior.

She said: 'I've just always wanted a pink car. I think when you're a little girl and you have the Barbie corvette you're always like, 'Oh I wish I had a car like this one day', so I think it just comes from being a fan of Barbie for so long.

'This is a car that I cannot drive every single day but I will be driving a lot. They put on protective tint on the windows so no paparazzi flashes can come through.'

Erm, Paris, and the whole idea of a Pink Bentley , being?

So you'd be anonymous despite the whole world knowing who's behind the wheel?

Paris, we've seen EVERYTHING that you ... are.

Pink Nipples and all.

The Compass is pointing in the Right Direction

New Chrysler Design Boss Ralph Gilles is not a fan of the awkward-looking Jeep Compass.

He says: " There won't be any more cars like this. The guy who designed it is no longer with us.'

Either that's a coy publicity statement or razor internal politics at work.

Whatever it is, if that's what he says, then Chrysler is in bad hands , me thinks.

Because in my great big opinion, the Jeep Compass is one hella successful interpretation of an Iconic brand moving into the new millennium .

If Mr Gilles expected a staunch follow-up with tradition, he is missing the point. Woefully antediluvian even. Archaic.

Be reminded that the Compass was conceived because Jeep is in search of a new market niche and clientele; in a world less forgiving to SUV producers due to rising fuel prices, labour and raw materials cost.

In a world falling into deep economic recession, people don't want to splurge on high car ownership costs . So SUV makers, like Jeep, is in for a not-so-rosy 'good' time.

Anyway, back to the gist, me thinks the Compass is a perfect example of a Maverick Beauty.

Its avangarde quirks mixed with street credo chic, whilst retaining the macho flair which its tradition endowed it with, makes it a wonderous piece of automotive master piece.

This is a car for the man who is successful but at the same time, trying to prove that he got to that lofty position of his, by being a steadfast but non-conformist individual.

Blame the parts people who couldn't get the QC right.

Don't scapegoat the designer (or the design) just to prove to people you can.

Mr Gilles had better deliver.

Or the next design boss is gonna say the same"he'll no longer be with us".

Q .... haha.... maybe the next model could be called the Jeep Karma. ^^

Se-X-y E-X-ecutive

Mazda 6 : I'd give it a 9 for a Perfect 69....

Honda Accord : King of The Road

Nissan Teana : Smooth Operator

The working class never looked so exciting.

Face. Pace. Space. Race. Grace.

The Japanese pseudo-luxo barges never were this desirable.

The complacent europeans had better watch their heels.

Prime Estate

When it comes to Real Estate, it's all about location-location-location. Or so they say.

But when it comes to these estates, it's all about the jouney there.

Big in foot print.

Big on performance.

Big on price tag.

Big on taxes.

Big on fuel guzzling.

BIG.

That's what they say too, right?

When it comes to Real Estate, Size matters too.

Dangerous Spoilt brats

Nothing is too fast and reckless for spoilt brats who don't pay out of their own pockets. >> Result? Innocent lives are lost in road accidents.

Rich spoilt kids who've never held a decent job all their lives but driving fast cars.

Sounds familiar? Sounds gratingly annoying?

Indeed.

These useless bums of society should be capped upon and banned from driving.

>They are testosterone-fueled.

>Big price tags, high ownership costs and high fuel prices mean nothing to them because they ride on their parents' bank accounts.

No civic or personal integrity and responsibility, .

***These lil devils care little if they ever ploughed into real people with real jobs , with real mouths to feed and real lives to lead.
***

All these good-for-nothings do are hard-partying, booze, drugs, live-off-the-inheritance-life-style and making careless and reckless choices .

If there was somewhere lower than Hell, is to simply have these useless f*ckers around at 3 am in the morning. (b*tches and b*stards alike)

Rich pussies.

Anywhere. Everywhere.

Long Lost Twins

Disclaimer: This is meant to be tongue-in-cheek and never meant to spark some cross cultural backlash. :0)

What if you have an International Playboy as a father and he's been sowing his seeds around the globe and a Japanese child just found out that he has a long lost Italian sister?

>Witness the Japanese kid: The Subaru R1

>>Now observe the Italian sister: The Fiat 500

If you're blind and still insist on a DNA test... How do we tell that these kiddos probably share the same father?

-Both are multi-award winning city cars.

-Both are quintessential 3-door hot-hatches that can shame many a 'real' sports car with their agile handling and spritely engines.

-Both are meant for a couple and 2 tag-alongs (no heads or no lower limbs for those at the back; pick one)

-Both have the egg-wedge shape.

-Both have loud Red interiors to stun and have fun in.

-Both cost a lot of cash for very little metal.

There's definitely an identity crisis going here.

Good genes though.

I must be the most unfortunate driver out there. And each time it's never NEVER my fault !!!

WTH. WTH.
